In this video, Tom was asked “With all the ships in the ocean with the containers trucks. What will happen with the holidays and prices of everything”. Tom mentioned about supply chain disruption.

Bottlenecks in global supply chains threatened the supply of a whole range of goods, from food and beverages, consumer electronics and Christmas decorations. This is a stress to the business and economics and it has big impact from retailers down to the consumers because such constraints have contributed to higher inflation. As a matter of fact, some economists have warned that inflation could stay higher and longer than expected.

As a business person, it is important that you are aware of global issues that have a big impact to how you price your goods, how long do you receive your orders and as well as how long do your well-valued customers receive their orders. Hence, we will discuss the following issues.

  1. There is material scarcity due to an abrupt rise in consumer demand like never before.
  2. Freight prices are increasing brought by insufficient shipping capacity and an unprecedented shortage of empty or available containers.
  3. There is port congestion which is when a ship arrives at a port but cannot load (or unload) because that station is already at capacity.

Everything in business was affected by the pandemic and this is just one aspect in the industry that must be addressed. Otherwise, supply chains must continuously evolve if they wish to stay ahead of the competition or atleast stay afloat during this pandemic time.
